The Latchways Wingrip offers Fall Protection for Personnel Working on the Wings and Fuselage of Aircraft
The Latchways WinGrip® is a vacuum anchor fall protection system for use in aircraft manufacturing and maintenance, it can also be used in a variety of other environments and industrial applications.
It is a highly portable single-user system that is quick and easy to install for line maintenance and other short-term work. Once the anchor is positioned and the vacuum locked in place it can be used by a worker wearing a full-body harness with a safety lanyard and work positioning rope connected to the vacuum anchor.
Adjustable work positioning rope provides a 3m safe working radius for comfortable hands-free movement. Two vacuum anchors can be used to triangulate and fix worker positioning. The WinGrip is safe and flexible, it can be used on the fuselage, stabilisers, and wings; the system is simple to use and is suitable for work inside the hangar and outside on the apron.
The Latchways Wingrip features:
- Lightweight and portable anchors which weigh less than 6.12kg
- Suitable for wet or dry surfaces, inside hangars or on the apron
- Easy to install for aircraft wing and fuselage maintenance
- Simple hands-free operation
- Intrinsically safe, and safe to use with fuel tanks open
- Run on compressed air or nitrogen, with no electrical requirement
- No metal-on-metal contact
- Multiple-user cable-based system, single-user anchor, and collective barrier protection options
- Modular system which can be tailored to customer needs and requirements
The Wingrip can be used as a Single User System, Multi-User System, or Barrier System.
Wingrip Barrier System
The Latchways WinGrip Barrier System from MSA Latchways provides solutions for working at heights on aircraft during manufacture and maintenance. The system can be installed by one person and when set up, provides an enclosed environment for unlimited workers for any time duration providing worker edge protection.
This versatile system reduces fall risk by providing superior safety at heights; workers require only basic training to work within the system without the need for harnesses and lanyards. The system consists of upright stanchions connected at the base to a WinGrip System vacuum pad. The stanchion interface is fully adjustable and ensures that correct installation can be achieved on any undulating surface.
Wingrip's horizontal rails are adjustable in length and angle which allows any system shape to be installed and adjusted at any time. Systems can be supplied to enclose any size area from 1 m2 to an aircraft’s entire upper surface.
Wingrip Multi-user Lifeline System
The WinGrip Horizontal Lifeline System also allows access for as many as four workers along the entire length of a wing or fuselage and is designed for construction, heavier maintenance or return operations.
The system consists of two end-anchor vacuum pads with cables spanning in between, and intermediate anchors used as needed to suit any cable length. Each anchor is positioned and vacuum-locked in place, followed by stainless steel safety cables connected and tensioned at one end.
Workers connect to cables using the unique Latchways shuttle while employing full-body harnesses and work positioning ropes. The system allows hands-free movement along the entire cable length; shuttles glide over intermediate anchors.
