What types of breathalysers are there?
There are two main types of breathalysers:
- A semiconductor breathalyser uses a semiconductor sensor to measure the amount of alcohol in a breath sample. The sensor changes resistance when it comes into contact with alcohol, and this change is used to calculate the BAC. These are less expensive than fuel cell breathalyzers, but they are also less accurate.
- Fuel cell breathalyser use a fuel cell to measure the amount of alcohol in a breath sample. The fuel cell is made of a platinum electrode and a carbon dioxide electrode, and it produces an electrical current when it comes into contact with alcohol. Fuel cell breathalyzers are more accurate than semiconductor breathalyzers, but they are also more expensive.
The type of breath-testing device that is best for you will depend on your needs, budget, and application. If you are looking for a device to use for personal use, then a personal breathalyser may be a good option. If you need a device for legal testing, then an EBT (Evidential breath testing device) may be the best choice. If you need a device to test employees or people who are not able to come to a testing facility, then an on-site or remote breath testing device may be a better option.
