There are many types of confined space equipment, but some of the most commonly used are:

    • Personal protective equipment (PPE): This includes items such as harnesses, spreader bars, lifting slings, respirators (ba sets), hard hats, gloves, and safety glasses. PPE is essential for protecting workers from the hazards of confined spaces, such as hazardous atmospheres, falling objects, and sharp edges.

    • Ventilation equipment: This equipment is used to remove hazardous gases from a confined space. Some common types of ventilation equipment include blowers, fans, and exhaust systems.
    • Communication equipment: This equipment is used to allow workers to communicate with each other and with a supervisor outside of the confined space. Some common types of communication equipment include radios, telephones, and intercom systems.
    • Recovery (retrieval) equipment: This equipment is used to rescue workers from confined spaces. Some common types of retrieval equipment include tripods, winches, and lanyards.

In addition to this general equipment, there are also a number of specialised pieces of equipment that may be needed for specific types of confined spaces. For example, workers who enter silos may need to use confined space harnesses, while workers who enter manholes may need to use confined space ladders.
