Anchor Points

Roof anchor points are secure connection points that are used as part of Roof Safety Systems providing protection to users when working at heights and can be used for fall arrest or rope access situations. They are usually used in conjunction with other height safety equipment such as harnesses, lanyards, lifelines, and fall arrestors as part of edge protection. Depending on the application anchor points can be installed permanently or temporarily.

Fall Arrest Anchor Points are suited for fall arrest and limited free fall applications must be rated to a minimum of 15kN for 1 person.

Abseil / Roof Access Anchor Points The minimum load requirement for Absail or Limited free fall is 12kN for 1 person but where possible they should be rated 15kN as required for fall arrest. Single-point anchor points are suited to fall arrest and rope access/abseiling.

Permanent Anchor Points

Permanent anchor points are installed in locations that are accessed often and made from quality materials strong enough to endure continuous exposure to the elements. It is important that the anchor points are installed correctly and rated for the application.

The main permanent installation types for anchor points are:

  • Surface mount (directly to the metal roof via rivets and screws)
  • Purlin mount (directly into the purlin)
  • Concrete glue in
  • Friction
  • Steel fix
